Nigerian-based photographer and creative advocate Jolaoluwa Victor Ajayi was honoured at The Ultimate Awards 2024 as one of West Africa’s Top 10 Art & Culture Game Changers, receiving the Best Photographer of the Year award at a ceremony held in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, on Sunday, September 15, 2024.
Ajayi’s recognition was driven by what organisers described as “outstanding contributions to art and culture through photography, community engagement, and creative mentorship,” according to Dr. Seun Olatunji, Founder and Project Director of The Ultimate Awards.
The honour reflected three distinct pillars of impact: Ajayi’s work in visual storytelling, his grassroots creative advocacy, and his role in mentoring emerging photographers. The Ultimate Awards noted that his body of work had been “vital in preserving cultural narratives, amplifying local voices, and expanding access to artistic expression across communities in Southern Nigeria.”
