In the bustling heart of Osogbo, Osun State, a new sound is redefining the city’s airwaves. Bass 99.3 FM, founded by popular entertainer and disc jockey Dee Jay Bassman, is already being hailed as Osun’s number one urban radio station. With its bold slogan, “Where Entertainment Meets Humanity,” Bass FM is more than a broadcast platform but a cultural movement dedicated to music, community, and the everyday stories of the people.
From OSBC to Bass FM: The Making of a Vision
Bassman, whose real name is Oluwaseun Ekundayo Salawu, has been a household name in Osun’s entertainment scene for over two decades. His journey into broadcasting began as an intern in a Media House, through several radio & TV stations and to Rave 91.7 Fm, Osogbo where he served as the station’s first in-house DJ between 2015 and 2019 under the mentorship of media veteran Dr. Femi Adefila.
In a statement, Bassman acknowledged that Adefila, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Rave FM and Western Springs Television, played a pivotal role in shaping his career.
According to Bassman, “Adefila is my role model, my leader in the media space. Even after I left Rave FM to continue the pursuit of my DJing career, he continuously supported me and recommended me for big events. His encouragement and blessings played a quota into the successful establishment of Bass FM”.

Bass 99.3 FM officially launched in September 2025 from its studio at New Oba Road, Ota Efun, Osogbo. The station’s test transmissions initially came through the 90.7 MHz frequency before settling permanently on 99.3 MHz. Early listeners across Osogbo and Neighboring towns like Ikirun, Ede, Ogbomosho quickly embraced its crisp sound and energetic programming, with many describing it as “loud, clear, and refreshing.”
Unlike conventional stations, Bass FM weaves the city’s culture into its broadcasts. Its playlists span Afrobeats, hip-hop, R&B, and indigenous Yoruba tunes, while its talk segments mirror the pulse of Osogbo’s streets — from the chatter of market traders to the aspirations of young professionals.

What sets Bass FM apart is its dedication to urban entertainment and youth empowerment. The station has rolled out training initiatives for young people in Osun, teaching them radio production, show hosting, and technical skills such as equipment repair.
